What is frequently bought together (FBT)?
Adding an FBT section to your website is a great way to upsell products that go well together! You can name this section "Complete the look" or "People also bought" and see the AOV increase!
Quick tutorial on how to set up an FBT campaign -
There are 2 ways to set up FBT recommendations on your website.
Automated Recommendations - Our system will decide what to recommend based on your past order data. This is the most preferred way of setting up this campaign.
Manual Recommendations - In specific cases where you might want to manually select the products that show up in the recommendations (for eg: If you want to pair clothing items together, or if most or all your products are new and there is little past order data), you can manually map the recommendations.
Please note: Our system takes 24 hours to generate your Recommendations, so this campaign will remain locked until then. After 24 hours of installation, this campaign will get unlocked for you automatically!
Where can you place this?
You can place this widget on your Product pages and Cart page. You will also be able to add FBT to our upcoming Wise Cart! Combining FBT and Wise Cart will be a sure-shot way to upsell right inside your cart and increase your AOV.
Best practices
Position the recommendation widget high up on the page (preferably just below the product images and description on the product page)
Match the design from the design tab and make sure the campaign looks like a part of your website.
Be mindful of your look-back period and choose it according to your new launches cycles. For eg: A fast fashion store would want to recommend items frequently bought together in the last 30 days. But a pet store might want to have longer period of say, 90 days.
Check out our recommendations running on PlanToys - They have acknowledged that the items recommended in the FBT section are actually what people often buy together!
Is your campaign not showing on all your pages? When you set up automated FBT recommendations our system will check your historical orders and suggest products that are bought together. But if there isn't enough order history for a product or if that product is newly added to the store, the FBT campaign will not show up. In that case, we recommend that you wait while more orders flow in or switch to manual recommendations.
